Where Is This World Heading?

Sometimes I look at the world today and wonder, where is all of this heading?

The USA and Iran. Russia and Ukraine. Israel and Palestine.

War after war. Conflict after conflict.

And behind every headline are real people. Families. Children. Innocent lives caught in the middle.

Does anyone actually care about their people anymore?

The Bible warned us that wars would continue.

“And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars…”
— Matthew 24:6

Revelation also speaks about the nations of the world being drawn into conflict.

And while all this is happening, technology is advancing at an incredible speed.

Look at China’s humanoid robot competitions. Robots can now run, fight, play sports and perform increasingly complicated tasks.

It makes you wonder: could these become the soldiers of the future?

Then there’s AI.

I use AI myself to help generate images and other things. It’s useful, but I’ve noticed how quickly it begins trying to anticipate what you want. After it thinks it understands you, it sometimes tries to assist in ways you never even asked for.

So what happens as AI becomes more powerful and is given more control?

That’s a serious question.

We are entering a world our grandparents could hardly have imagined: AI, humanoid robots, autonomous weapons, constant international conflict and technology advancing faster than society can understand it.

It can be scary.

But maybe instead of only asking “Where is the world heading?”, we should also ask:

“Where am I heading?”

Are we right with God?

Have we accepted Jesus Christ?

Are we living as though we have unlimited time to figure these things out later?

Jesus said:

“Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.”
— Matthew 24:42

Nobody knows exactly what tomorrow will bring.

But we do know this world isn’t promised to last forever.

Maybe it’s time we stopped putting God off until tomorrow.
