In the midst of the festive season encompassing Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Hanukkah, Christmas, and New Year’s, it is crucial to redirect our focus towards those battling addiction, grief, and loneliness. As we celebrate, let us extend our love and care to the hungry, homeless, poor, and the working poor.

As we revel in the joy of the holidays, let’s make an effort to create a compassionate and inclusive atmosphere for everyone, ensuring that no one feels alone or forgotten.
In a world quick to judge and slow to understand, the essence of true compassion often gets lost. The path to understanding demands passion and trust, acknowledging that good hearts may employ methods we find unfamiliar or disagreeable. Instead of perpetuating division through judgment, let us strive to foster growth through understanding.
As Christians, the call to cease judgment and embrace understanding becomes even more significant. Recognizing that we are all uniquely created in God’s image, it is not our place to pass judgment or assert the supremacy of our own perspectives. What works for one may not necessarily work for another, and imposing our beliefs on others only leads to frustration and isolation.
It’s imperative to relinquish the “do as I say” mentality and allow individuals the freedom to live their lives authentically. Whether it’s offering help to others or contributing to charitable causes, we must refrain from coercing others into conformity. Attempting to control people’s choices is characteristic of a narcissistic attitude, leading only to anger, stress, and a perpetually judgmental mindset.
True compassion lies in permitting others to chart their own course, respecting diverse paths even when they differ from our own. Encouraging independent thought rather than dictating actions fosters personal growth and mutual understanding. In this way, we can break free from the confines of judgment, embracing a more compassionate and harmonious existence.
Romans 16:17-19
I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them. For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive. For your obedience is known to all, so that I rejoice over you, but I want you to be wise as to what is good and innocent as to what is evil.
Proverbs 17:22
A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones
Are you the type of person who must always be right? Force others to do things your way?
In our journey of faith, it’s crucial to ponder the impact of our actions on others. Are we trapped in the need to always be right, imposing our will on those around us? A true Christian embraces humility over a “my way or the highway” mentality, avoiding bossiness, disrespect, and condescension.
Let’s acknowledge that nobody appreciates a know-it-all. Within the Christian ethos, it’s essential to examine our own behaviors before pointing fingers. If we preach against certain actions but engage in them ourselves, we risk becoming liars and scammers, undermining the very values we uphold.
In the spirit of Christian love and humility, let’s pause, reflect, and commit to positive change, fostering an environment where empathy and understanding prevail.
A sincere Christian doesn’t seek personal gain at the expense of others. Instead of pushing a self-centered agenda, let us strive to uplift those around us. Recognizing and rectifying narcissistic tendencies is not just a personal journey; it’s an essential step in preserving meaningful connections with the people we care about.
“May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”
This passage from Colossians emphasizes the transformation that occurs when we turn from darkness to light through our faith in Jesus Christ. It reminds us that as believers, we have been rescued from the domain of darkness and are now part of God’s kingdom of light. We are called to walk as children of light, as Ephesians 5:8 also emphasizes.
As we navigate the dualities of light and darkness in this world, let us remember that God’s desire is to shape us into reflections of His Son, Jesus, and to fill us with His glorious light. In our pursuit of the light, may we find endurance, patience, and joy, giving thanks for the forgiveness of our sins and the inheritance we share with the saints in light.
Let us be encouraged to open our eyes and see the glorious light before us each day, and to let it guide our steps and actions as we walk in faith.
When we decide to serve God and follow the path of Jesus, we often anticipate a smoother, problem-free journey. However, the reality is quite different. The devil may try to convince us that serving God means a life free of difficulties, but in truth, we encounter challenges and trials. In this blog post, we explore the idea that following Jesus doesn’t eliminate problems but provides us with something far more precious.
The Misconception of a Trouble-Free Life: Choosing to serve God doesn’t mean that all our problems will magically disappear. Life’s trials, challenges, and obstacles will still be present. Following Jesus is not a guarantee of an easy, carefree existence.
The Value of Walking with Christ: It’s important to recognize that even amidst life’s difficulties, our worst day with Jesus is far better than our best day without Him. When we choose to follow Jesus, we are never alone, and we don’t have to face life’s challenges in isolation. He is our constant companion and source of strength.
The Reality of Being a Christian: Being a Christian is far from easy, and it doesn’t equate to a problem-free life. However, it is undoubtedly one of the best decisions we can make. Through our faith, we find a deeper purpose and a profound connection with the divine.
Living Out Our Faith: Hearing and reading the Word of God is essential, but it’s just the beginning. The true essence of Christianity lies in living out our faith. It’s not enough to know God’s teachings; we must apply them in our daily lives.
I want to be kind to those who are not kind to me.
I want to bear good fruit
I want to be good to those who are not good to me.
I want to be nice to others on days I feel like crap and just want to be alone.
I want to be like Jesus
I want power over the devil.
Two Bible Verses to Encourage Your Journey:
2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV) – “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christβs power may rest on me.” This verse reminds us that in our weakness, we find God’s strength.
James 1:22 (NIV) – “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” This verse reinforces the importance of not just hearing or reading the Word but actively living according to it.
Choosing to serve God and follow Jesus is a decision that may not remove life’s challenges, but it provides us with something far greaterβunwavering faith, a constant companion, and the strength to overcome. Being a Christian is not about an easy path, but it is undoubtedly the best journey we can embark upon. It’s a call to live out our faith, to be a light in the world, and to trust that God’s grace is sufficient, even in our weaknesses.
As I sit down to write this, I’m reminded of the countless moments my spouse and I have spent together, talking about our relationship and strengthening our bond. Our journey has been filled with laughter, shared dreams, pain, illness, success, and many meaningful conversations. Good morning! Today, let’s embark on a journey of spiritual reflection and inspiration. In a world filled with constant noise and distractions, it’s essential to pause and listen to the still, small voice of Jesus. He has a unique message just for you, a divine strategy that can illuminate your path. Today, we explore the power of faith, forgiveness, and the unwavering support of Jesus, drawing wisdom from two powerful Bible verses and one uplifting Thursday quote.
Bible Verse 1: Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV) “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
This verse from the Book of Proverbs reminds us of the importance of trusting in God’s divine plan. In a noisy world, we often try to rely on our own understanding and abilities. However, God invites us to trust Him completely, lean into His wisdom, and surrender to His guidance. When we do this, our paths become straightened by His divine hand.
Bible Verse 2: Isaiah 41:10 (NIV) “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Isaiah 41:10 offers comfort and reassurance. It reminds us that we need not fear the future or be swayed by the opinions of others. Jesus is with us, offering unwavering support and strength. His presence is our source of courage, and His righteous right hand upholds us through life’s storms.
Positive Thursday Quote: “Optimism is a happiness magnet. If you stay positive, good things and good people will be drawn to you.” – Mary Lou Retton
This quote by Mary Lou Retton serves as a reminder that a positive outlook on life can attract positivity. When we tune out the negativity and focus on the message of hope and faith, we become beacons of light, drawing good things and good people into our lives.
As you navigate through this Thursday and beyond, remember the powerful messages from the Bible verses and the uplifting quote. Trust in the Lord, lean on His wisdom, and fear not, for He is with you. Your story matters to Him, and He offers peace that surpasses understanding and strength in your weakness. Embrace the power of faith, forgiveness, and positivity, for with Jesus by your side, you serve the One true God, mighty to save. Have a blessed and purposeful day!
Hello, everyone! I hope you’ve been well. I apologize for my brief absence; it’s been a whirlwind of activity as we prepare for our big move from Ohio to the sunny shores of Florida. But today, I’m excited to share with you an unexpected blessing that has recently come my way.
You see, I’m an avid genealogy and history enthusiast. Whether it’s local history, state government, worldwide events, or the intricacies of family history, I’m captivated by it all. For me, delving into genealogy was an absolute must.
The Mystery of My Maternal Grandmother: My journey into the world of genealogy took an intriguing turn because of my maternal grandmother. She was born in 1902, and as many of you might be aware, the record-keeping practices of that time left much to be desired. Even today, obtaining adoption information from courts can be a challenging endeavor. My grandmother, however, knew she was adopted but seldom spoke about it. When she passed away at the remarkable age of 94 in 1996, I made it my mission to uncover the truth about her origins.
The Quest for Answers: From 1997 onwards, I embarked on a relentless pursuit to unearth the secrets of my grandmother’s past. I can still vividly recall spending endless hours in libraries, poring over dusty records, and combing through archives. Back then, home computers weren’t as common as they are today, so the library became my haven for research.
The Surprising Discovery: Recently, as I was going through old boxes of belongings, a hodgepodge of memories accumulated over the years, I stumbled upon a tattered book titled “America Illustrated,” dating back to the late 19th century. My love for books compelled me to keep it, and little did I know that within its fragile pages lay the answers I had been seeking for over two decades.
Inside the pages of this aged book were documents that illuminated my grandmother’s early years spent in an orphanage. Astonishingly, the answer to my lifelong question had been tucked away in a storage closet right next to our apartment all these years. It’s incredible to think that my mother had possession of this crucial piece of our family history before her passing in 2000.
Reflections and Unexpected Blessings: As we approach the latter part of 2023, I find myself reflecting on this incredible journey. For 23 years, I unknowingly carried the key to my grandmother’s true identity with me, hidden in plain sight. It’s a powerful reminder that life’s most profound blessings can often be right under our noses, waiting for the perfect moment to reveal themselves.
Moving Forward: In conclusion, I want to emphasize the importance of remaining open to life’s unexpected blessings. It was my granddaughter, Celina, who presented us with the incredible opportunity to move to Florida. This move has brought my daughter and me closer than ever, and we’re on the verge of settling into a beautiful new home. While this journey has been at times chaotic and daunting, it has been nothing short of thrilling.
So, dear readers, as you go about your day, remember that miracles and blessings are all around us, just waiting to be discovered. Whether it’s finding answers to long-held questions or embracing new adventures, life is full of surprises. I encourage you to be kind to others and, if the opportunity arises, be a blessing to someone you may not even know. Sometimes, it’s as simple as holding the door open for a stranger.
Wishing you all a day filled with unexpected joys and blessings. Until next time, peace.
Life is a journey filled with peaks and valleys, where joy and sorrow intermingle, and we encounter the unexpected at every turn. In the midst of this unpredictable journey, it’s comforting to believe that there is a guiding presence, a force that knows our future even before we do. For many, that guiding force is God, a source of unwavering faith and strength.
The Inevitable Roller Coaster of Life
Life is a kaleidoscope of experiences. At times, we bask in the warm glow of success and love, feeling on top of the world. Other times, we navigate the treacherous terrain of health issues, grief, or abuse, leaving us feeling lost and broken. Yet, amidst this whirlwind of emotions, one constant remains β our faith in God.
Trusting in Divine Providence
No matter the circumstances we face, the belief that God is always with us provides a profound sense of comfort. It’s a belief deeply rooted in trust, an unwavering conviction that there is a plan for us, even when we can’t see it. This trust allows us to face adversity with resilience and to savor moments of joy with gratitude, knowing that all experiences, whether good or bad, shape our journey.
The Divine Perspective
From a divine perspective, every trial we encounter is an opportunity for growth, every loss a chance for spiritual awakening. In the depths of grief or the throes of pain, we may question why a loving God would allow such suffering. But it’s in these moments that our faith is truly tested. It’s when we cling to our belief in God’s presence that we find the strength to endure, the courage to heal, and the capacity to forgive.
God’s Role in Our Success
On the flip side, when we taste success and happiness, it’s easy to forget our dependence on a higher power. We may become complacent, attributing our achievements solely to our efforts. Yet, it’s in these moments of triumph that acknowledging God’s role becomes even more important. Recognizing that our successes are not solely the result of our abilities but also the divine guidance we receive keeps us humble and grateful.
Love as the Ultimate Expression
In the tapestry of life, love is perhaps the most potent thread. It binds us to one another and connects us to the divine. It’s through love that we often experience God’s presence most profoundly. Whether it’s the love of a friend, the love of family, or the love of a romantic partner, it’s a reminder of the love God has for us.
Embracing the Journey
In conclusion, life’s journey is a complex tapestry of experiences, from the highest peaks to the lowest valleys. Throughout it all, our faith in God provides the thread that weaves these moments together. It’s a belief that God is with us every step of the way, guiding us through life’s twists and turns, and revealing the beauty in both our

I wanted to take a moment and have a heart-to-heart with you about something that has been weighing on my mind lately. Let me ask you a question: Are you truly living your best life? Are you following your passions and pursuing your dreams fearlessly, or have you allowed fear and a lack of confidence to hold you back? If your answer doesn’t sit well with you, don’t worry, because I have some great news for you – it’s never too late to start again.
Too often, we find ourselves trapped in the comfort zone of a narrow life. We let our fears dictate our choices, playing it safe and sticking to what we know. But where does that really get us? It’s time to break free from those self-imposed limitations and make a decision right here, right now, that we will embrace a life of boldness, aggression, and unwavering confidence.
Now, let’s talk about fear. It’s a natural part of being human, and it’s okay to feel it. But here’s the secret: you don’t have to let fear control you. Instead, acknowledge the fear, but don’t let it paralyze you. Remember the wise words of John Wayne: “Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway.” Courage isn’t the absence of fear; it’s taking action despite the fear.
So, my dear friends, I encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and embrace new experiences, higher levels of your existing passions, and even explore completely unknown territories. Don’t let fear rob you of the incredible opportunities that lie ahead. Trust in yourself and God’s plan for you, and watch the magic unfold.
Each day is an opportunity for you to begin again, to rewrite your story, and to chase after your wildest dreams. Let go of the fear that has held you back for far too long, and instead, choose to live a life filled with the vibrancy and purpose that you deserve.
I hope this little reminder brings a spark to your day and ignites a fire within you to embrace life fearlessly. You are capable of incredible things, my friends, and I’m rooting for each and every one of you.
Iβm going to take my own advice. We are relocating to a different state and I must admit there are times I am very fearful. Did I find the right place? Are we going to be able to afford it ? Is this the right time?
But you know Iβve been wanting to do this for years and itβs going to happen.Itβs the best time now. So I will post updates along the way π
Wishing you all a blessed day filled with love, courage, and endless possibilities. Remember, it’s never too late to begin again. With love and light, Debbie π
