Faith in Action: Living Out the Word

In the tapestry of Christian faith, threads of belief and action intricately weave together to form a vibrant expression of discipleship. James, in his epistle, underscores this union, stressing the inseparability of faith and works. Drawing from James 1:23-25 and 2:14-17, we’re reminded that mere hearing of the Word without corresponding action renders faith ineffective.

Faith, devoid of action, resembles a fleeting glance in a mirror, quickly forgotten once the observer turns away. Yet, true discipleship involves a deeper engagement—a persistent gaze into the perfect law of liberty, culminating in proactive obedience. This obedience isn’t borne out of obligation but springs forth from the transformative work of the Holy Spirit within believers.

James challenges us to examine the authenticity of our faith by assessing our deeds. Merely professing faith while neglecting the tangible needs of others reveals a faith devoid of vitality. True faith, on the other hand, manifests in acts of compassion, service, and selflessness, mirroring the love of Christ.

As recipients of God’s unconditional love, we’re called to extend that same love to others through our actions. Our identity as disciples isn’t confined to doctrinal affirmations but finds its fullest expression in the way we live out our beliefs. Our lives become living testimonies—a tangible reflection of God’s grace and mercy.

Gathering for worship is essential, but it’s incomplete without the outward expression of our faith in everyday life. Our faith is authenticated not by words alone but by the transformative power evident in our deeds. Let us resolve to be not just hearers of the Word but active doers, bearing witness to God’s love in a world hungry for hope and compassion.

Faith and action are inseparable companions on the journey of discipleship. Let us embrace this truth wholeheartedly, allowing our lives to be living epistles, read and known by all, as we embody the love and grace of our Savior in both word and deed.

Encounters In Our Lives

In life, we are not solitary beings but interconnected threads woven together by a divine purpose. God orchestrates the encounters and relationships in our lives with deliberate intention. We are called to be catalysts for each other’s growth and success, to uplift and empower one another to reach our fullest potential.

As we journey through life, let us remember the profound impact of believing in others. Our encouragement, support, and belief in their abilities can ignite the spark that propels them toward their destiny. Like a beacon of light, let our faith in others shine brightly, guiding them through the darkness of doubt and fear.

In Philippians 2:3-4, the Bible reminds us, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” Through selfless love and genuine care, we can inspire and empower those around us, enabling them to embrace their true potential and fulfill the purpose for which they were created. Let us be vessels of hope, agents of encouragement, and champions of each other’s dreams.

In every step I take, I am assured that God is orchestrating the path ahead, smoothing out every twist and turn before me. His divine presence ensures that even the most challenging circumstances are transformed into opportunities for growth and blessings. As Isaiah 45:2 reminds us, “I will go before you and level the mountains; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron.” With unwavering faith, I trust that God has strategically placed the right individuals in my life, each one instrumental in paving the way for success. Every encounter, every challenge, and every victory is part of His master plan, perfectly synchronized with His timing. In moments of doubt or uncertainty, I cling to the promise that nothing – no person, no illness, no setback – can thwart His purpose for me. For “if God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31). With this declaration resonating in my heart, I walk in confidence, knowing that what God has spoken over my life will undoubtedly come to fruition. This unwavering belief fuels my journey, filling each day with hope, courage, and boundless possibilities. So, let us stand together, united in faith, as we proclaim His faithfulness and embrace the abundant blessings that await us. Amen.

God handpicked you, even if you feel like an outsider. Regardless of your past, background, or perceived inadequacies, God chooses you. The world may say you’re not qualified or that you don’t fit in, but God’s response is, “You’re exactly who I’m looking for.” He specializes in choosing strangers, those who don’t conform to societal expectations, those with flaws and weaknesses.

In Jeremiah 1:5, God declares that He knew and approved you before you were even formed in your mother’s womb. You’re not just chosen; you have a calling and greatness within you. Don’t let the enemy’s lies make you feel left out or unworthy. God has a history of choosing unexpected individuals, like David, a shepherd boy who became the king of Israel, and Moses, who led the Israelites despite his flaws.

Even Jesus, instead of choosing the expected candidates, picked fishermen and tax collectors as his disciples. He didn’t go for the most qualified; he chose those with imperfections. Similarly, God’s choice of you isn’t based on your flaws or background. He knew every mistake you would make, every struggle you’d face, and still, He chose you.

Don’t disqualify yourself; God’s calling on your life is unchangeable. Start each day acknowledging that you are chosen and approved by the Creator of the universe. You are a masterpiece, fearfully and wonderfully made. People may disapprove or look down on you, but their opinions don’t matter when you have Almighty God’s approval.

Your past struggles and setbacks haven’t disqualified you; they’ve prepared you for where God is taking you. You are a perfect fit for your assignment. Instead of dwelling on what could have been, embrace the fact that God considered everything and still chose you. Hold your head high, knowing that your worth comes from being chosen by God.

Just A Nobody

I listen to Z88.3 Orlando it’s a Christian radio station and I just love all the talks, music etc….

I listened to KLOVE when I lived in Ohio.

One of my favorite songs is by Casting Crowns called Nobody.

It’s basically saying what I have thought for the past few years, why me? Why was I selected and lead to take ministry classes? To be ordained when I am so flawed? We all have flaws but I wonder why God lead me to take classes the ultimately led me to become ordained.

Was it to teach me how to become better, wiser?

I’m just an ordinary person spreading the word about Jesus. In ways of stories I create , thoughts I have . And teachings I have studied as well as my own Life experiences etc..

The mystery of why You chose me Lord has persisted throughout my life. I’ve often been told that I belong at the end of the line with the Not-Quites and the Never-Get-It-Rights and How can you be a minister you used to swear smoke, etc….

As the song goes

I’m just a nobody, sharing the story of Somebody who saved my soul. Since You rescued me, my heart now sings a song,

In moments of doubt, when the devil questions my worth, I confidently respond that I’m just a nobody proclaiming Somebody great.

The stories of Moses’ stage fright and David facing a sword with a rock remind me that outsiders like the twelve You picked can change the world. Everyone has a purpose, and when the devil questions my identity, I assert that I’m just a nobody proclaiming Somebody who saved my soul.

Thank you Lord for saving me and allowing me to spread your word

And in the spirit of the message, let’s reflect on Psalm 27:1 – “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”

Letting Go: A Parable of Faith and Divine Peace

In the stillness of a night, a man found himself suspended between life and potential doom. As he clung to a concrete ledge, desperately crying for help amidst the clamor of construction, his pleas went unheard. Exhausted and fearing the worst, he finally relinquished his grip, only to discover a ledge mere inches below—a place of unexpected peace.

This parable mirrors the struggles many face, holding onto life’s uncertainties with fearful tenacity. How often do we live on the edge, gripped by anxiety and reluctance to let go? The tale invites introspection, urging us to release our fears and embrace the peace that lies just a step away.

Embedded within this narrative is a profound truth—one that transcends the story itself. The Bible teaches us in Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV): “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

As we consider the man’s struggle and the six-inch fall to unexpected tranquility, the parallel with the scripture becomes clear. The invitation to let go aligns with the biblical wisdom of entrusting our anxieties to God through prayer. The promise of divine peace, beyond human comprehension, serves as a beacon of hope in times of uncertainty.

The narrative then transitions into a spiritual reflection, addressing the reader’s potential skepticism or distress. The author acknowledges not knowing the individual struggles but reaffirms the unwavering presence of God with believers. The encouragement to keep moving forward, rather than standing still, becomes a call to faith and action.

This narrative crescendos with a declaration of victory in the coming New Year. The call to come to God echoes the scriptural invitation to find peace through trust and prayer. The story serves not only as an engaging parable but as a reminder that in letting go and turning to God, we discover a peace that surpasses understanding—a peace available to all who choose to release their fears and come to Him.

Happy Kwanzaa

Kwanzaa is a week-long celebration starting on December 26th and ending on January 1st. It honors African heritage and cultural values. The holiday was created in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Karenga and is observed mainly in the United States.

Each day of Kwanzaa focuses on a specific principle, known as the Nguzo Saba, which are seven guiding values: Umoja (unity), Kujichagulia (self-determination), Ujima (collective work and responsibility), Ujamaa (cooperative economics), Nia (purpose), Kuumba (creativity), and Imani (faith). These principles are represented by lighting seven candles in a kinara, a traditional candleholder.

Celebrants also decorate their homes with African art, wear traditional clothing, and exchange educational and cultural gifts. Kwanzaa encourages reflection on the past, present, and future, fostering unity and community building.

Kwanzaa is a meaningful celebration that promotes unity, cultural pride, and the application of positive values in daily life. It lasts for seven days, offering a unique opportunity to reflect on one’s heritage and contribute to the well-being of the community.

“Creator of all, on this day of Kwanzaa, we gather in unity to honor our heritage and celebrate the principles that guide us. Grant us the strength to uphold Umoja, fostering unity among our people. May Kujichagulia empower us to determine our destiny with purpose and pride. Let Ujima inspire collective responsibility, working together for the greater good.

Bless our efforts in Ujamaa, promoting cooperative economics and shared prosperity. Guide us in pursuing Nia, fulfilling our purpose with dedication. Infuse our endeavors with Kuumba, sparking creativity that enriches our lives and community. Finally, instill in us Imani, a steadfast faith that propels us toward a brighter future.

As we light the candles of the kinara, may their glow symbolize the illumination of these principles in our hearts and homes. Amen.”

However, Psalms offers a comforting reminder: “Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He sent forth his word and healed them, he rescued them from the grave.” (Psalm 107:19-20)

This verse serves as a beacon of hope for those grappling with adversity during the holidays. It emphasizes the power of reaching out to God in times of trouble, reaffirming that He not only hears but cares deeply. The assurance that God saves and heals remains unwavering.

The timeless truth that God’s word brings healing and rescue is a source of solace. This promise extends beyond the historical context; it speaks to the present. Through Christ, one can find profound healing—from physical ailments to emotional wounds, from the ache of loss to the chains of addiction.
