How Not to Be Like This Man: Lessons on Compassion, Respect, and Christian Conduct

Recently, a disturbing incident unfolded in Florida where a man was arrested for repeatedly aiming sprinklers at students with disabilities as they waited for a school bus. Charged with stalking and battery, this man’s actions reflect a blatant disregard for human dignity and the teachings of Christ.

As followers of Christ, we are called to demonstrate love, compassion, and respect for all people, especially those who are vulnerable or in need. Jesus Himself set the perfect example:
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.” (John 13:34)

How Not to Be Like This Man

  1. Disregard for Others’ Dignity
This man attempted to harm or humiliate children with disabilities—an act profoundly contrary to the dignity we are all created with in God’s image. As Scripture reminds us,
“So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” (Genesis 1:27)
Our actions should reflect respect for every person, regardless of their abilities or circumstances.
  2. Failure to Show Compassion
Christ calls us to show compassion, especially to the vulnerable. In Matthew 25:40, Jesus teaches:
“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of Mine, you did for Me.”
Instead of cruelty, Christians are called to be compassionate and kind.
  3. Lack of Self-Control and Love
The Scriptures warn us about the importance of self-control and love. Galatians 5:22-23 states:
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.”
Acts of harassment and harm stem from a lack of these fruits. We must nurture them within ourselves.

The Lesson

This incident serves as a stark reminder of what it means to truly live out our faith. Christianity is not just about words; it’s about our actions—our respect, kindness, and the love we show to others.

How can we ensure we follow this path?

  • Treat everyone with dignity and respect, especially those who are vulnerable or different.
  • Show compassion and kindness in all our interactions.
  • Exercise self-control, resisting temptations to harm or belittle others.
  • Pray daily for a heart of love and the strength to act justly.

In Conclusion

Let us reflect on our actions and motivations. Are we demonstrating Christ’s love in our everyday lives? Remember Galatians 6:9-10:
“Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people…”

May we be inspired by Christ’s example to be kind, caring, and respectful—especially toward those most in need of love and compassion.

“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” (Luke 6:31)

Heavenly Father,
Please soften the hearts of those who are cruel and callous. Convict them with Your love, and change their hearts to reflect Your kindness and mercy.
Transform them, Lord, and restore their compassion.
In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

The Power of Kindness in a Cruel World

The Power of Kindness in a Cruel World

In a society that often seems consumed by chaos and cruelty, it can feel disheartening to witness the darkness that shadows our daily lives. The news bombards us with stories of violence and heartache—like the recent tragedy in NE Ohio where a simple encounter turned deadly. A man, allegedly hit a 25-year-old woman’s car in line at the drive-through. She asked the drive-through person to contact 911 now who knows what may have led up to this, but that’s irrelevant because the man get out if his vehicle walked up to the young woman in the drive-through window, trying to get her breakfast lunch or dinner and shot her dead, then went back to his vehicle. Not sure if it was still at the drive-through when he did this. But he shot himself and what was the purpose of being at Taco Bell? Did he really intend to go there to shoot this person? Was it premeditated? What makes a person snap or are they just evil? . But now, this beautiful 25 year old, her future is gone her family and friends are mourning all because a man for whatever reason shot and killed her and then himself .

In another incident in Florida, a couple’s call for help turned into a nightmare as the man chose to ambushe police officers, leading to devastating consequences. These stories remind us that not everyone embodies kindness, or goodness.

And in the case of actor, Matthew Perry, you will see where a person who was struggling with addiction recovery relapse that happened to have money was taken advantage of by so many people, because they didn’t see him as a human being. They saw him as a meal ticket, and a way to get money.

Just like a couple years ago actress singer, Britney Spears all her life was being controlled by a parent. What is it justified? Maybe what is it right? No because they’re greed took hold and instead of concern , they were afraid of losing the power and control so she could no longer be possibly manipulated any people we know love trust hired to do this just imagine what a total stranger would do in today society not everyone, but there are a lot of evil people in this world .

You see on the news every day sadly, an animal is abused.

No one with a kind heart would allow any of the above comments that I wrote happen. You have to have a dark soul to abuse people to abuse animals to purposely go after and hurt another individual or to take advantage of others, kindness for your gain.

I would like to see more good news on TV I would like to hear more good news on the radio I would like to read more good news in newspapers. I would like to have the focus more on doing good than seeing those who are cruel .

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed and discouraged by such occurrences, but we must remember that we can choose our responses. Just because some people choose to act like monsters doesn’t mean we have to follow suit. It’s essential to strive to be good humans despite those around us who may not share our values.

The Importance of Doing Right

The essence of being a good person lies in doing right by others without the expectation of receiving anything in return. We shouldn’t measure our kindness by how it’s reciprocated. Life will always present us with individuals who may take advantage of our goodwill or respond with hate , cruelty or hostility. That’s not our fault or responsibility. What matters is our intention and action.

When we choose to be kind, even in the face of adversity, we contribute to a brighter world. This doesn’t mean we should allow ourselves to be taken advantage of; it simply means we must maintain our integrity and compassion.

Choosing kindness can have a ripple effect. Small acts of kindness like holding the door open, offering a smile, or lending an ear to someone going through a tough time can make a difference. These simple gestures not only uplift others but also enrich our own lives.

In a world filled with negativity, let’s commit to being the change we wish to see. Let’s choose kindness, understanding, and compassion every day. It starts with us, and together we can create a more hopeful and humane world.
